homies

good friends and good relationships are invaluable. the people we gravitate towards; and cultivate relationships with, are the ones who help us stay on path. they are the ones who value your ideas, but will push you to take them further. these values hold true in all avenues of life, from friendship to business.

2 norfolks

norfolk pines are my favorite trees. i have always gravitated towards these trees because of their aesthetic presence. they always remind me of something out of a dr. seuss book. before moving to seattle i requested our new lawn contain one. upon moving we realized seattle is too far north and the climate is not agreeable. shortly after accepting my non-norfolk fate i was surprised with a housewarming gift, my very own norfolk that now resides in our kitchen. the photograph below was taken in lima during our last night in peru.

rough road

the inquisitive mind of stephanie asks: "why did they make one straight line and place the rest at random?"

we were in the town of ollyntatambo twice, once on the way to aguas calientes and once one the way back. the second time we were there during the day which gave us some time to explore this unique little mountain town.

enjoy.

by the end of the day i did not want to see another staircase. i can only imagine how the people who actually hiked the inca trail felt compared to those of us who took the train in.

the exhausting hike (without water) and soaking wet wait was rapidly becoming a thing of the past and at this point it was apparent we were witnessing something special.

the 30 year gaze.

hello again,

.....aaaaaand were back. as most of you know we were in peru last week to celebrate starph's 30th, which is something she has wanted to do since i've know her (6 years). we had a crazy yet amazing week covering a lot of ground in a short amount of time. peru is a very beautiful and diverse place and in my opinion one week was not enough time there. even with our limited schedule we managed to maximize every moment and had a fantastic trip.

in the spirit of my blog i will show imagery from our trip in the typical fashion of "1-a-day". one notable change is that i shot the whole trip using the new canon g11. yes, there were a few instances where i would have liked to have some longer lenses and a tripod but other than that the g11 was the perfect camera for this "on the move" trip. if you would like to learn more about the g11 read the link below:

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canong11/

since stephanie was the reason for the trip it only makes sense to start the series with a picture of her on her birthday, reaping the rewards of an intense hike up wayna picchu.

1-a-day....
